In January 2023, a new feature called the Heatmap was added to Reveal 11. This cutting-edge tool provides an additional way for users to quickly identify meaningful patterns in their data. The Heatmap enables you to select two sets of information and view how they align with each other. By default, the Heatmap displays the counts of document types by custodian.
With just a few clicks, you can choose different criteria and utilize the outcomes in countless ways. With the Heatmap, you could assess the probable effectiveness of proposed search terms, get an overview of privilege calls made by reviewers, or even gain a deeper understanding of the various languages used in your documents.
The Heatmap is a valuable addition to our collection of data visualization tools, which is designed to expedite your speed to insight.
A definition of a heatmap, sourced from the widely-used platform Wikipedia, describes it as a data visualization method that portrays the magnitude of a phenomenon through color in two dimensions. The differentiation in color can be achieved through variation in hue or intensity, providing clear visual indicators to the reader about the clustering or variation of the phenomenon over space.
By utilizing color intensity, you can quickly identify patterns in your data. These patterns are significant because they allow you to shape the narrative you wish to convey, pinpoint weaknesses in your own arguments or those of your opponents, and uncover gaps or novel insights.
What Are the Capabilities of the Heatmap. The Heatmap can be used to help evaluate the efficacy of search terms. You can look at the intersection of search terms and file types, search terms and custodians, and so on.
Get a Privilege Overview, set up to allow reviewers to tag documents as privileged – do not produce, privileged – produce redacted, and not privileged.
To get a quick visual overview of those privilege decisions by custodian, use Custodian in Rows and Privileged in Columns (see image above).
Assessing Language Usage. In today's globalized world, it is increasingly important to be able to handle documents written in diverse languages. With the aid of the Heatmap and a metadata search, you can obtain a comprehensive understanding of which individuals possess the most documents in languages other than English.
